Rwanda economy expanded by 6.7% in Q2 2018

In the secondquarter (April – June) of 2018, Rwanda economy expanded by 6.7%. Within sector: Agriculture grew by 6%, Industry by 10% while services grew by 5%.


Rwanda posts -0.07 pct annual growth in producer price index

Rwanda’s general producer price index, combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual growth of -0.07 percent in the second quarter of 2018 compared with the same period of 2017, while on quarterly basis it decreased by 0.38 percent compared with the first quarter.

The main drivers for these changes were manufacturing, mining and quarrying activities.


Rwanda's CPI is 2.1 pct year on year in August 2018

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 2.1 percent year on year in August 2018 up from 2.0 percent in July 2018.

In August 2018, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 3.7 percent and 10.4 percent respectively.

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 2.0 percent year on year in July 2018 down from 2.9 percent in June 2018.

In July 2018, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 3.1 percent and 10.2 percent respectively.

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 2.9 percent year on year in June 2018 down from 3.0 percent in May 2018.

In June 2018, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 1.7 percent, 4.0 percent, and 8.8 percent respectively.


Rwanda's GDP up by 10.6 percent in Q1, 2018

Rwanda's gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 10.6 percent in the first quarter of 2018 compared with the same quarter of 2017.

The nominal GDP in the second quarter totalled 1,985 billion Rwandan Francs (Frw), up from Frw 1,816 billion in Q1 2017.

Activities in the industry sector increased by 7 percent. Manufacturing activities increased by 7 percent boosted by food processing activities which increased by 9 percent and Textiles, clothing & leather goods activities which grew by 24 percent. Construction activities increased by 8 percent.

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 3.0 percent year on year in May 2018 up from 1.7 percent in April 2018.

In May 2018, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 1.5 percent, 5.3 percent, and 8.1 percent respectively.


Rwanda posts 0.27 pct annual growth in producer price index

Rwanda’s general producer price index, combining both prices for local and export products registered an annual growth of 0.27 percent in the first  quarter of 2018 compared with the same period of 2017, while on quarterly basis it decreased by 0.58 percent compared with the fourth quarter 2017.

The main drivers for these changes were manufacturing, mining and quarrying.


Rwanda's CPI is 1.7 pct year on year in April 2018

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 1.7 percent year on year in April 2018 up from 0.9 percent in March 2018.

In April 2018, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 3.8 percent, and 7.7 percent respectively.

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation has risen 0.9 percent year on year in March 2018 up from 0.7 percent in February 2018.

In March 2018, ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ and Transport rose by 2.2 percent, and 3.8 percent respectively.

The data also show the “local goods” decreased by 0.4 percent on annual change and increased by 0.6 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” increased by 5.1 percent on annual basis and increased by 1.1 percent on a monthly basis.
