Following are key trends from the fifth  Rwanda Population and Housing Census (PHC) in Kinyarwanda language


MAIN INDICATORS: 5th Rwanda Population and Housing Census (PHC)

The analysis of the fifth Rwanda Population and Housing Census (RPHC5) indicates that Rwanda’s population was 13,246,394 as of August 2022, showing an inter-censal annual growth rate of 2.3% between 2012 and 2022. 


KEY FIGURES: 5th Rwanda Population and Housing Census (PHC)

Rwanda's population increased from 10.5M in 2012 to 13.2M in 2022 with an annual population growth rate of 2.3%. Eastern Province has the highest population (26.9%). Southern Province has the highest number of recent out-migrants.

Demographic Dividend

The Demographic Dividend study on Rwanda assessed the socio-economic and human development potential of our country in the short, medium and long-term period using a comprehensive approach. It generated relevant policy and programme information to guide a well-informed polciy required to propel Rwanda towards achieving its aspirations of being high middle income country by 2035 and high income country by 2050.
