Rwanda's inflation is 4.9 percent year on year in July 2024

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 4.9 percent year on year in July 2024 down from 5 percent in June 2024.

In July 2024, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 1.5 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 1.5 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 21.7 percent on annual basis and it increased by 0.3 percent on monthly basis.

Rwanda's inflation is 5 percent year on year in June 2024

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 5 percent year on year in June 2024 down from 5.8 percent in May 2024.

In June 2024, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 3.1 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 1 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 23.2 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 0.6 percent on monthly basis.


Rwanda's inflation is 5.8 percent year on year in May 2024

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 5.8 percent year on year in May 2024 up from 4.5 percent in April 2024.

In May 2024, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 4.7 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 0.8 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 24.7 percent on annual basis and it increased by 0.6 percent on monthly basis.

The latest Labour Force survey (2024 Q1) reveals a significant decline in Rwanda's unemployment rate, dropping by 4.3 percentage points in quarter 1 of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. This remarkable improvement has brought the unemployment rate back to the pre-COVID-19 estimate of 13.1%. In 2024 (Q1), the unemployment rate stood at 12.9%, indicating a positive trend where approximately one person was unemployed for every eight in the labor force.

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 4.5 percent year on year in April 2024 up from 4.2 percent in March 2024.

In April 2024, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 1.6 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.3 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 24.2 percent on annual basis and it increased by 8.2 percent on monthly basis.

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 4.2 percent year on year in March 2024 down from 4.9 percent in February 2024.

In March 2024, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 2.5 percent on annual basis and it increased by 0.6 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 14.8 percent on annual basis and it increased by 6.2 percent on monthly basis.

In February 2024, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 6.3 percent on annual basis and it increased by 3.7 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 8.1 percent on annual basis and it increased by 1.4 percent on monthly basis.

In January 2024, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 7.4 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 1.3 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 6.4 percent on annual basis and it increased by 0.3 percent on monthly basis.


Rwanda's inflation is 6.4 percent year on year in December 2023

Rwanda’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), main gauge of inflation increased by 6.4 percent year on year in December 2023 down from 9.2 percent in November 2023.

In December 2023, ‘Food and non-alcoholic beverages’ increased by 11.7 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 6.2 percent on monthly basis. Transport increased by 6.7 percent on annual basis and it decreased by 1.5 percent on monthly basis.
